Tracy Kolbe-Alexander
Dr Kolbe-Alexander is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise at the University of Southern Queensland. The focus of her research is the role of physical activity in the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Much of her research is conducted in the worksite setting, where she is investigating the effectiveness of worksite health promotion programmes on improving employee health status and lifestyle behaviours.
She has also developed, implemented and measured the effectiveness of physical activity interventions in previously marginalised groups. This reflects one of Dr Kolbe-Alexander’s passions, which is to encourage positive lifestyle behaviour change in low socio-economic areas and help to close the gap in health outcomes that vulnerable communities face. Some of her research has been translated into practice, in civil society, the private sector and in government.
