Diabetes Management: Current challenges and future possibilities

Diabetes-related foot disease (DFD) is a complex condition that is not easily identified, prevented or treated. Ultimately, without awareness, advocacy and action from patients, clinicians and government, DFD will remain a National Health Problem.

This workshop will provide an evidence-based update on risk assessment, screening, diagnosis and diabetes management guidelines. Novel medications and emerging technologies will be explored. Practical advice will be offered in the management of acute complications of diabetes in the clinical setting and referral trigger points will be discussed.

This workshop is intended to increase the knowledge and confidence of clinicians pertaining to diabetes. A review of person-centred care aims to encourage the clinician to empower people to engage with their health services in a relevant and timely manner, make effective decisions and participate in self-management strategies.
